About Us

Bridie

I'm Bridie, I'm 27 and recently became a mum for the first time to a beautiful little boy. I set the challenge for myself originally because after being pregnant my body shape has changed ( I now have boobs and hips which is a bit of a novelty for me ). I need a whole new wardrobe which would cost a fortune! I was also getting fed up with buying clothes and not having them fit properly or lasting and seeing other people in identical outfits. So I thought I've got all this fabric ( I'm a bit of a fabric horder ) and the skills why don't I make more clothes? So I set this challenge and asked my best friends if they wanted to joined in and they loved the idea. Which has made it so much more fun already !

I’m Laura, I’m 25 and I recently got married to my wonderful husband who I met through work at our local pub/restaurant. Since graduating university 4 years ago feeling like it was unlikely that I could get a job in the industry I left the fashion world behind and carried on working in the pub industry. For me this challenge is a way to get back into making clothes again but for myself this time. I’m itching to get started, I forgot how much I loved designing and making clothes.

Jo

About me: after 3 years of fashion, 6 months of International fashion business at Nottingham Trent to get a PG Cert, I completely changed my career path to become a nurse. With one year of nursing training to go, working as a health care assistant in hospitals and being constantly broke, this challenge has come at the right time to re-use, recycle and remember my sewing skills. Lets see if I still have my creative side!

Heather

I've been sewing for as long as I can remember, starting with tiny garments for dolls as a child (with much supervision from Mum) through to my hand stitched lace wedding dress in 2013. I studied Textiles and Design through to A-level but decided not to pursue the fashion route, preferring to keep all of the pleasure of sewing to myself!
Over the last 18 months, or so, I've been sewing roughly three garments per month, so when Bridie invited me to take the challenge it seemed like a great opportunity to do something I love and share the new skills and techniques I learn with others
